THE MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY-October

The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary was established to commemorate the 1571 victory of the Holy League over the Ottoman navy in the Battle of Lepanto. Pope Pius V credited the Christian fleet's outnumbered victory to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who was invoked through the praying of the rosary throughout Europe.


Saturday 11th of September: The Motherhood of Our Lady

Collect: O God, who didst decree that, at the angel's message, thy Word should take flesh in the womb of the blessed virgin Mary, grant to us, thy supplicants, that we who believe her to be indeed the mother of God may be helped by her intercession with thee: through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Wednesday 22nd of September: Martyrs of New Guinea (Red)

Collect: Almighty God, we remember before thee this day the blessed martyrs of New Guinea, who, following the example of their Savior, laid down their lives for their friends, and we pray that we who honor their memory may imitate their loyalty and faith; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.


Friday 24th of September: Feast of Saint Raphael, Archangel (White)
Collect: O God, who didst send the blessed archangel Raphael to accompany thy servant Tobias on his journey, grant that we thy servants may ever be guarded by his care and strengthened by his aid: Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
